Armchair Retreat: Learning to Pray with Scripture

This short, personally directed retreat in daily life is for adults who would like to “sample” spiritual direction. Each person is asked to pray with Scripture on a daily basis for twenty to thirty minutes. The Centre provides a prayer companion over the 6 to 8 week period. The program begins and ends with a group session….

An ideal program for those who are practicing their faith and are seeking to deepen their prayer life.

Hearing God in Others: Listening Skills Course

Awareness Evening

This Awareness Evening helps a parish group begin the process of implementing the Diocesan Faith Education Project - “Proposing Jesus Christ Today.” The evening simply helps participants to experience prayerful openness to the guidance of the Holy Spirit. It provides time for individual and group reflection, shared prayer, and some preliminary brainstorming. The format can be adapted to the specific needs of a parish.
  • We offer trained facilitators and prayer companions to help you for 6-8 weeks.

Understanding with the Mind, Praying with the Heart

For someone beginning to explore their relationship with God, one-on-one spiritual direction can be overwhelming. Designed to help participants reflect on their faith journey both intellectually and prayerfully, this workshop focuses on developing prayer skills in a group setting. It can be used as a continuation or deepening of a catechetical or adult education program:

The topics covered follow the dynamics of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius,
  • How does my faith develop?
  • Why was I created?
  • Falling Short of the Mark: What is Sin?
  • Following Jesus;
  • The Meaning of Suffering;
  • God Labours to Love Me.
Each 2-hour session is divided into a teaching portion and an opportunity for prayer in a group setting.
